The Supper Club Library

"So please, oh please, we beg, we pray,

Go throw your TV set away, And in its place you can install

A lovey bookshelf on the wall".

- Roald Dalh, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory

Reading prior to sleep is a habit that seems to evaporate as we become older. The hustle and bustle of the day seems to pull us towrds a quick digital distraction rather than an insightful paperback.

Reading throughout the day instead of turning to your phone to mindlessly scroll through social media or unnecessarily alarmist news reports, will leave your mind clearer and calmer as you edge towards the end of the day.

It is suggested that your bed and ideally your whole bedroom should be reserved solely for sleep. So if possible it's best you read your book in the sitting room under a lamp in a space other than your bed. If this cannot be avoided, try and separate your reading a sleep in some way, by possible sitting on top of the covers rather than inside the sheets or on the opposite side of the bed to which you prefer to sleep.

Either way reading a book with no digital distractions no mater where you are, will give you a far greater foundation to a good night's sleep than your phone.

The Supper Club - Library

Any good society would have a library in their club rooms and The Sleep Society is no exception. Through the weekly updates of our loyalty programme ;'The Supper Club' a list of reading recommendations will be regularly updated to provide material as an alternative to your digital sleep disrupters.
